Outdoor Channel’s Mike Robinson Praises The Preserve During a Day of Sport and Outdoor Cooking

Published on October 27, 2026

Chef, outdoorsman, and Outdoor Channel host Mike Robinson shared high praise for The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort during a recent visit, describing the Richmond, Rhode Island destination as “the best sporting venue you could ever imagine.”

Mike was joined by Preserve member Col. James “Jim” Manni, retired Rhode Island State Police Colonel and a childhood friend of The Preserve’s Chairman, Paul Mihailides. Together, they enjoyed a morning of walked-up pheasant hunting with pointers, with deer stalking planned for the evening.

From the Field to the Fire

Following the morning’s hunt, Mike prepared pheasant stroganoff over an open fire for Farming the Wild. Cooking what he had harvested brought together his passion for the sporting life and his approach to wild food.

In the video, Mike speaks warmly about The Preserve’s countryside, sporting opportunities, and the pleasure of cooking outdoors in the woods. Col. Manni joins him in reflecting on a memorable day, complete with beautiful weather, good company, and a little friendly humor.

A chef, hunter, and advocate for wild food, Mike shares his knowledge of hunting and cooking through Farming the Wild and other Outdoor Channel programs.
